After buying his first record (Men without hats – Safety dance), Olaf Schmitz, born 1971 in Cologne / Germany, knew at once that music would be part of his future. So he moderated radio shows in Norway when he turned 14 years and started to produce music at the age of 16. Also he DJed in various bigger Clubs in Oslo area since being 18 where his DJ name PACE was born, due to his progressive style that
was poppy but always a step ahead of time.
Not much difference to the life of Michael Stocksiefen, better known in his native country Germany as Mike Arvid. Born in Bonn / Germany back in 1977 he started to play piano and flute at the age of 6. Mike developed his own style based on his favourite band Depeche mode and released his first own productions at the age of 18 – known as Cassiopeia, where he also performed the lead vocals. Both met by accident at a party in their current home country Germany in 1998, when Olaf – after a musical pause following his former produced success albums and singles (3 Gold albums and 13 Top 10 singles around Europe) – wanted to start new music projects.
Since than they have produced more than 25 songs and mixes in their own dance style, being influenced by Depeche Mode, Pet Shops Boys and the always latest Club-anthems. They publish on major record labels in association with known acts and most Clubbers in the world lately experienced their versions for Jean Moiree and Blue Nature which guided those acts to charts success not only in Germany.
Their music is based on strong pads, harmonic hook-lines and the special mixture of pop and trance music, that still is ahead of time. Producing music for Pace & Arvid is a hobby and this provides the basis for their always hymn-like songs. While Mike is more the composer and musical brain behind Pace & Arvid, Olaf provides the special sounds and the mix.
Both work and live close by Bonn in Germany. Besides music Olaf (married, 2 kids) is director of various companies in the IT sector and Mike is leading the office of a timber construction. Their current work with the top Estonian artist Hannah is based on a good friendship they have built over the last year, after meeting each other in Cannes.
Being motivated by a stay in Estonia and the good reactions to their first release “Never be same”, Pace & Arvid will continue working on new material together with Hannah and combine each others strength, to reach the top of the charts around the globe.
