High Eight (Neil Briggs) started out in breaks as one half of the Future Funk Squad alongside Glen Nicholls, collaborating on early works such as Pulse, the first single on Default Records.
Since then Neil's solo project has scored him a single release on Re:Connect, remixes for Bless, Full Intent and Navigation Records, plus two tracks on the New:BPM Vol 2 mix album (mixed by Future Funk Squad).
As a DJ, High Eight has played across the UK with the likes of Freddy Fresh, Future Funk Squad, and Stanton Warriors. Neil also runs and promotes a breakbeat night in Yeovil, Somerset called Freek which has been running since October 2003, and has welcomed guests such as Kraymon, Ben & Lex, Madam Breaks and DJ Andromeda.
High Eight’s past and recent work has also appeared on many mix compilations. “Shakedown” appeared on the Future Soundscapes compilation put together by stateside DJ’s Draco & Exzact, while General Midi licensed “Pulse” for his “Genetically Modified” mix album. More recently Neil’s remix of Carbon Community’s “Mastermind” appeared on the Beatz & Bobz Vol 2 album, mixed by Will White of Propellerheads fame.
Forthcoming work includes a new single for Re:Connect “Open Your Eyes”, plus more remix work and collaborations with other breaks artists and vocalists.
