Born in exile in Tanzania in 1981, Tumi returned to Soweto, South Africa in 1992. Formerly known as [b]MC Fatboy[/b], Tumi Molekane is an MC/Poet who has done countless work on the Johannesburg hip-hop scene.

Member of the 9-piece crew [a=P.E.R.M.], which includes Zee, Strawmoon, Space2wice, [a=Kju52], [a=Richard The 3rd], McWillie, Neo Shamiyaa and Dilseng, the group released an album in 2001 titled "APT: An Artistic Representation of Truth" which was well received. That same year Tumi released his debut album [b]"The Tao of Tumi"[/b] as well as publishing his book, a collection of poems, called "The Black Inside Out".

2002 saw the vinyl/CD release of his EP "A Dream Led to this" on [l=Nuffsaid Recordings] in Australia, as well as further cooperations with Australian MC/Producer [a=Prowla].

Front man for the band [a=Tumi & The Volume], a creative joint venture between Tumi, Tiago and Paulo from [a=340ml], Dave and Kyla, joining forces in 2002 the band has had immense success with the release of their debut live album [b]"At The Bassline"[/b] in 2004, including three nominations for South African Music Awards (SAMA).

The group's self-titled sophomore effort and first studio album was released in 2006 with distribution in Canada and Germany as well.

Founding his own label [l=Motif Records] in 2006, Tumi has released a compilation "Ke Sho Case Showcase", as well as his second solo LP "Music from my good eye" in 2007.
