Pleasurehead, the so-called "Trance Perculator," established a cult-like following in the New York area with his numerous DJ appearances at area parties. Originally a hip-hop fanatic, the DJ was originally known as MC Pleasure Head, but traded the microphone for turntables after hearing an early Frankie Bones mixtape from the early '90s. Over time he gravitated toward trance rather than techno, house, or drum'n'bass because of its affective attributes and made quick inroads into the New York-area party scene. He passed out demo tapes at whatever party he would attend, and eventually a Long Island-based production company, Smooth Grooves, gave him the break he needed. After a few years of spinning at parties, Pleasurehead united with Topaz Records for Trance Generator, his first nationally distributed mix album. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
