Machinae Supremacy, sometimes abbreviated to "MaSu", is a band from Luleå, Sweden, that plays a cross between power metal and bitpop. Self-defined as SID Metal, they usually use a SidStation that features the SID chip of the Commodore 64. They have released a considerable number of songs for free download on their site, and are strong supporters of the Ogg Vorbis audio format.
The Swedish metal act Machinae Supremacy has already made their place in history by being one of the first bands to embrace and utilize the internet and filesharing to gain a huge fanbase without ever having signed a record contract, received airplay or any sponsored promotion. They've reached out to all corners of the world and today this site receives roughly 100 000 song downloads every month.
Their unique blend of metal, soundtrack and video game music has earned them even more praise and elevation on the underground music scene.
Machinae Supremacy was formed in summer 2000 by Robert, Kahl and Jonne. The name of the band had existed even before this, but it was only a few months later the band really found the path they wanted to go. Gordon, a long time friend of Jonne, joined on keyboards and Tobbe joined on drums. Tobbe was a good sport and helped us out in the beginning even though his heart was somewhere else. When we parted with Tobbe in early 2002, Tomas, old band-pal with Robert, took his place. When Kahl left for Uppsala in 2005, Pallo replaced him on bass, and this is the current setup of the band.
