Formed in 2005, Sparkle in Grey’s instrumentation includes violin, bass, laptop, guitar, bagpipes, piano, polyrhythmic drums, melodica, field recordings, harsh noises and a bicycle. They cross many styles, from Industrial to electronic to Ukrainian traditional folk music to post-combat rock. Their latest record (2013), Thursday Evening, is an Italian-Swiss production, recorded by Andrea Serrapiglio (better known as a cellist for Carla Bozulich, Scott McCloud and Zu 93).
Their music sounds like a mixture of electronic, post-rock and light experimentalism.
In reviews, their records have been compared to Piano Magic, Tuxedomoon, Rachel's, King Crimson and even Current 93.
They collaborated with several artists such as MB/Maurizio Bianchi, Riccardo Gamondi (Woki Toki), OvO, Micecars, Kiddycar, Harshcore, Giuseppe Ielasi, Francesco Giannico, Tex La Homa and many others.
