GOOD Producers, like policemen, get younger and younger these days, and at the grand old age of 27, Phil Cogan is already a veteran of the scene, co- running one of the North East's most successful hard dance nights(Cause & Effect), releasing tracks on labels like Flashpoint, 12 Inch Thumpers, Do Not Bend and setting up his own recording label to celebrate his chosen musical genre.
Phil first got into dance music in the early 90s, listening to hardcore tapes from the notorious North East of England hardcore scene. After been given his first sampler aged just 13, followed by decks at 15, he began mixing Scottish hardcore in his bedroom.
Over the years Phil has played along side some of the biggest DJ’s on the hard house scene including, Paul Maddox, Anna Savage, Tara Reynolds, Ed Real the list goes on. While playing out Phil has found himself djing in various locations over the years from barn party’s to packed out clubs across the country.
While in the studio Phil has worked along side Paul Maddox, Eufex and Graeme EUK. Having remixed tracks for the likes of Lisa Pin Up and having his own material remixed by players such as Rodi Style, Paul Maddox and Dave Owens.
Between Djing and production Phil is a regular co presenter and guest on the cause & effect radio show. Playing out a lot of new unreleased tracks and digging out some forgotten classics.
Now releasing all of his own material on his label First Class Recordings Phil is able to control how and when the music will be released. With a heavy schedule of one release a month followed by a remix of each track Phil is making sure that everyone is kept happy
