Jamaican Music producer. Most know works include Prince Far I's debut album Psalms For I, Ronnie Davis's Jah Jah Jahova and The Power Of Love. Smith also produced top artists including The Eternals, Tappa Zukie, Barry Pride (Barrington Spence), Delroy Wilson, Little Joe (Ranking Joe) and Linval Thompson.
Born in the Greenwich Farm area of Kingston Jamaica, WI, Lloydie Slim first entered the music business as a gopher working for Jo Jo Hoo Kim . Soon afterward, Slim started working as a clerk in Bunny Lee's record shop, and later as talent scout in Bunny Lee's studio, where he discovered talents such as Johnny Clarke, Tappa Zukie, Prince Far I, Dillinger and Trinity to name a few.. He eventually parlayed that into a career as an independent producer. Smith left Jamaica in 1976 for Brooklyn, NY where he still produces and operates Happy Faces Record Shop* on Nostrand Avenue.
