Jazz and R&B vocalist, born June 3, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA. She released several acclaimed albums in the late 1950s and early 60s. Her biggest success came with "The Late, Late Show" in 1957. For a time following her 1958 wedding to Talib Ahmad Dawud, an Antiguan Muslim trumpeter, she was also known by her Muslim name, Aliyah Rabia. She died in New York City on April 10, 2007.
