In 1993, Storm (drums) and Nevel (guitar) began to talk about forming a new band. But not being able to find members, the band wasn't formed until april 1996, when Ysenghrim (keyboard) and Kris (vocals) joined them (even though Kris left after a while).
A year later, 27 songs were made, and that was enough to make the demo "Dicht Bi Den Heerd", which was loved by the underground. Alastor (vocals, guitar) joined the band because Ysenghrim couldn't sing and play keyboards at the same time.
Later, Alastor decided to leave Gotmoor so he could focus on his band Vae Victis. However, he did stay until a new vocalist was found, which turned out to be Clauwaert. Shortly after, Dodeweert (bass) joined the band.
With a great line-up, they could now record their next record called "Uit den donkeren grond gerezen". It was followed by "Vlaemesche Premitieven" which was both demos put together.
