DJ Woody (AKA Woody Madera) is one of Britain's most respected scratch DJs. Battle for battle Woody proved himself as the world's most successful scratch DJ of 2001 gaining more major titles than any of his contemporaries. After taking both the UK ITF and UK Vestax titles, Woody went on to make history by becoming the first ever Brit to take the coveted World ITF (International Turntablist Federation) Championship title over in San Francisco. Not content with one World title, 2002 saw Woody become 2 times World Champion when he stormed the Vestax Extravaganza World finals beating off competition from 14 countries.
Woody’s success on the competition circuit can be put down to his obsessive quest for originality and creativity. As one of the few true innovators in today's scene he is credited for the invention of numerous ground breaking turntable techniques including his own internationally recognised scratch known as the ‘Woody’ or 'Woodpecker’ style and his revolutionary ‘double-tone arm’ technique.
DJ battle achievements include:
2001 Northern DMC Champion
2001 UK ITF Champion
2001 UK Vestax Champion
2001 World ITF Champion
2002 DMC UK Defending Champion
2002 UK Vestax Champion
2002 World Vestax Champion
Woody is also the official DJ for the UK's longest running rap group [a=Krispy 3] and tour DJ for Manchester's finest [a=Broke 'n' English]. Having more than proved his point on the DJ battle scene and secured his reputation within the turntablist community he is now a regular fixture at European and World final dj competitions showcasing and judging.
