As a young men, he learnt about music in 1940, just when WWII started. He came into a russian prison and got released in 1949. He located in Berlin where he founded [a=Das Lucas-Trio] and later in 1958 the Botho Lucas Quartett with changing female vocalists like [a=Daisy Door], [a=Ulla Wiesner] and [a=Grethel Kärstel]. In 1959 he moved to Cologne and founded [a=Der Botho-Lucas-Chor]. In 1961 they had a huge hit with their interpretation of "Danke" the winnersong of the Christian music competition. It got sold over 250.000times. From that point on, the choir was well booked and often present in the TV. They had a few other hits and were touring till the Eighties.

Botho Lucas died on 15 May 2012.
