Formed in 1982 by Paul Neville and Ben Green, Fall of Because gained a third member in 1983 when Justin Broadrick joined. They developed in parallel with [a=Napalm Death], for whom a young Justin also played and often performed live with them (Napalm Death members [a=Mick Harris] and [a=Nik Bullen] guested on FoB's track 'Fight Club'). Over the next four years, the trio wrote a lot of material that became the base of much early Godflesh. The band disintegrated in 1987 when Justin left Napalm Death to play drums for [a=Head Of David], but got back together soon after and changed their name to [a=Godflesh].
The band took it's name from a [a=Killing Joke] song (The Fall Of Because).
