The "Sultan" project of Pete Namlook & Burhan Öçal began as a collaboration, and only while working on the project, Burhan noticed that Pete's affection towards eastern music goes farther than he would've imagined. During the work on the first album, Pete came up with the name "Sultan", and then the two artists decided to do a whole series of albums - each dedicated to a Sultan of the Ottoman empire, Pete's wish being to rendering a homage to this culture with modern technique.
Since Osman was the very first Sultan of the Ottoman empire, and "Sultan 2 - Osman" would've been quite an irritating title for the turkish audience, Pete decided to break with the conventional naming scheme of Fax, naming the subsequent releases after the Sultans, and treating the very first release of the series as the "initiation", number zero, foundation.
