American jazz (and rhythm & blues) drummer and bandleader.
Roy after played with the "Ernie Fields Band" (late 1920's),
moving to Los Angeles, California (1933) where he formed his own band : "The Solid Senders" a band of rhythm and blues with which received many hits.
The "Grandfather" of Rhythm & Blues, very popular with black audiences from 1945 to 1953.
Born : July 31, 1907 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma.
Died : September 18, 1983 in Los Angeles, California.
