Scottish jazz trombonist. Moved to London in the 1930s where he played in dance bands led by [a=Bert Ambrose] and [a=Teddy Joyce] and played with musicians such as [a=Fats Waller], [a=Coleman Hawkins], and [a=Benny Carter] when they came to the UK. He also worked as a musician and actor for TV and film, e.g. The Goon Show. He was awarded an OBE in 1984.
