French producer based in Paris.
Vincent Belorgey (born 1975), known as Kavinsky is a French electro house artist whose music and production style are set heavily in the synthersized, electro-pop film soundtracks of the 1980s.
After many years as an actor, Kavinsky's musical career started in 2005 after being inspired by his close friends [a33382] and [a217597], the later would go on to included Kavinsky's music in his film Steak . Using an old Apple computer, given to him by his friend [a791], he set to work trying to make music inspired and influenced by the thousands of movies he’d watched as a young boy, extracting the good parts and refining them into his own concept.
During this period Kavinsky produced his first single Testarossa Autodrive inspired by his love for the Ferrari Testarossa. At this stage Quentin Dupiex presented the single to some contacts he had at record label Record Makers. The label liked what they heard and in no time at all Kavinsky was signed to Record Makers.
Subsequently Kavinsky has gone on to release three EPs on the Record Makers label: Teddy Boy in 2006, 1986 a year later, and Nightcall with Lovefoxxx of CSS in 2010. He has since toured alongside Daft Punk, The Rapture, Justice, and SebastiAn as well as being remixed by other prominent electro artists. The SebastiAn remix of Testarossa Autodrive went on to be featured in the Grand Theft Auto IV video game . Kavinsky has also recently announced that he will appear on the upcoming Grand Theft Auto V video game, on the in-game radio station "NightRide FM".
Kavinsky music has been compared to many similar French house artists including [a1289], [a52758] and [a970320]. He achieved more mainstream notability after his track "Nightcall" was featured in the 2011 film Drive, starring Ryan Gosling.
In February 2013 he plans to releasehis debut LP entitled Outrun.
The Kavinsky is a character created by Vincent Belorgey. He shares a striking resemblance to Vincent himself but thats where the similarity ends. Kavinsky's story is that after crashing his Testarossa in 1986, he reappeared as a zombie in the year 2006 in order to make electronic music.
