Syphon's musical journey started to take shape in late 97 when under the name Sy"too"Sly he landed a slot on one of Londons leading pirate stations Taste 92.5fm, after starting out with a graveyard shift Fridays 4-6am his efforts and talent were rewarded with the Friday drive time show 4-6pm. During this time he had started experimenting with producing and found he was leaning towards the darker and more energetic side of the garage sound wihich in turn had started to reflect in his dj sets. In 2001 he was signed to Killer Instinct records and under the name Syphon released the breakbeat influenced track "Dirty Punk". Due to the welcomed extra work load from Killer Instinct Sy was no longer able to commit to his radio show resulting in him reluctantly giving up his slot to concentrate on production work. Later that year Sy was commissioned to remix the single "Understand Love" taken from Ed Case's debut album "Eds Guestlist". Although "Understand Love" was never released Sy's continual remix work on Ed's album resulted in him signing a publishing deal with Sony Music in 2002. Whilst more remix work followed for labels including Columbia, Telstar, Edel and Sony Sy released two more e.p's entitled "The Formula" and "Dogfather" on Killer instinct. Sy continued releasing and remixing tracks with Killer Instinct until 2004 when sadly the label closed down, this and the attitude change amongst major labels towards the garage/breakbeat sound also resulted in Sy's remix work at Sony becoming less frequent. In 2005 Sy set up Love2Funk Records with longtime friend Leon 1 Love, and enjoyed good success with their first release "Blazin" ironically produced by Ed Case. Three more releases followed entitled "Back on the case ", "Someone new" and "Take me" before in 2007 Sy and Leon parted company to pursue other avenues. After a hectic although enjoyable 5 years with Killer Instinct, Sony and Love2Funk Sy took the tough decision to take time out from music and dedicate more time to his young family. Fast forward to 2013 and after a longer break than planned Sy is now back in the studio producing under his real name, with new label Karma Soundklash ready to go keep checking for updates
