RICH BEGGAR or real name Prem Sharma was born in 1974, Harlow Essex. Over the past 25 years, Prem “RICH BEGGAR” Sharma has securely established himself as an exceptional hip-hop lyricist, singer, songwriter, live performer, aspiring actor and radio personality.
He’s no stranger to the world of radio and has appeared numerous times as a guest artist interviewee and talk panellist for various stations such as BBC/Radio1/BBC Asian Network/Club Asia/Choice FM, UK Obsession FM to name a few. From 1999 to 2001 his own debut weekly radio show (“The Watershed Show”) presented under his then pseudonym ‘Just-Prem’ playing ‘Soul/R&B/SmoothJazz/Funk/Boogie/RareGroove/Gospel/Hip-Hop’ grooves on yesteryears folded Community Radio & NTL Channel 8 - ACR FM; came under the soul circuit spotlight that gradually spawned a large following from his humble local East Herts and West Essex regional listeners to an even larger global online audience. With a blend of upbeat, serious, jovial and at times anarchic banter, discussions, quizzes, competitions, guest artist interviews, live on-air performances and his surprise ‘feature of the week’… he eventually earned himself a “Presenter of The Year” recognition certificate awarded to him by the Station’s Manager/Owner Paul Francis in 1999 on behalf of Anglia and NTL. He even won over the ears, minds and hearts of Jazz FM listeners who at that time happened to be on a neighbouring frequency… with even a surprise following from the late Jazz FM presenter Kevin Greening who’d often phone in asking him what track he’d played and showed him a great deal of support and encouragement - which at that time was received as a huge compliment for a budding local community presenter still in his infancy.
Aside from Radio, since 1989 he also has been an accomplished singer, songwriter, rapper and live performer under his (MCPS/PRS/CAE registered) recording artist name: RICH BEGGAR. Having made several recordings in various genres of music like; Hip-Hop, Soul/R&B, Soulful House, DnB & Asian Desi all of which have received critical acclaim, laudatory reviews and notable chart topping success in the UK as well as Europe, Atlantic Stateside and Asian music territory markets alike. He also is a freelance movie actor and was credited as a ‘Heavy’ in the 2009 BIFA & BAFTA Award Nominated Feature Film “SHIFTY” [© 2009 Between The Eyes, Film London, BBC Films & Metrodome Distribution] and also featured on the SHIFTY Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Album [© 2009 Silva Screen Records] alongside other guest artists such as; SWAY, PLAN B, RIZ MC & DJ TRAX. He was also nominated for Best Actor at the 7th Annual 2005 BFM International Film Festival board at London West End’s Prince Charles Cinema Award ceremony for his debut acting role in the award winning short film ‘mORALLY Speaking’, made by award winning British Director Lawrence Coke. With his infectious, fervent and passionate persona sandwiched by a voracious musical appetite and multifaceted skillset, it’s no wonder that he never ceases to strike a congruent chord or leave a lasting impression with his peers, audience and listeners - which almost every genre of music lover can’t help at some point listen and be drawn into his “Story SOUL Far”… Rich Beggar presents The Story SOUL Far on Soulstice Radio 24 (www.soulsticeradio24.com) on 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month 14.00 - 16.00 (BST [09:00 – 11:00 EST Time / 16:00 – 18:00 CET Time] via www.soulsticeradio24.com & TuneIn App on Mobile Smartphone Devices.
