Born Alin Adrian Demeter in Pantelimon, Bucharest in 1978, gangsta rapper/producer Uzzi grew up on the rough streets of Bucharest, Romania.
In the early '90s, influenced by gangsta rap pioneers such as [a=Eazy-E] and [a=Ice-T], Demeter founded one of the first romanian hip hop groups, Demonii (The Demons), performing in Bucharest at local talent shows. In 1995, Uzzi, as he called himself, met [a=Tataee] and [a=Caddy (2)] at such a talent show and was invited to join [a=B.U.G. Mafia].
The group released their debut album, "Mafia", in late 1995 and, over the next few years, B.U.G. Mafia became the most notorious group in romanian rap, penning vulgar rhymes which celebrated urban violence, denigrated women and advocated killing police officers. Uzzi is an instrumental part of the group, his low-pitched raspy voice becoming a trademark of B.U.G. Mafia, who nowdays are frequently mentioned as pioneers of romanian gangsta rap.
