Nic grow up with a father and a mother that where professional musicians, hot back in the days (60s & 70s) in Denmark. Being on tour was an ordinary day in his childhood and a drum case or a speaker cover became his bed. He got his first guitar back when he was seven, since then he has always been producing music.
1986 at age 11 and his parents took him on a holyday to the island of Ibiza. Accidentally did they stayed next to what’s known as Café Del Mar today, so he was playing on the beach as his parents where digging the tunes. The streets of St Antonio where filed with bars and clubs that where exiting and a couple of shops where selling cassette tapes with funny smiley faces on? Little did he know that he had just been planted with an (Acid) house seed in his walkman that later on would shape his future!
His first rave party was in a warehouse downtown Helsingborg, Sweden, 1994 and it was a release party for Cari Lekebusch and Planet Rhythm Records. This is the moment where everything crystallized for him. Shortly after he got in contact with a local DJ guru (Dj Joakim Cosmo aka Circusdirektören) that had a mission too spread the love of house music. Mr Joakim Cosmo showed him how the decks worked and from then on he stated DJing. 1997 DJ Planetary was doing his first public gig, 6hours set at a local club. Then he started arranging clubs and events, classical (local) clubs such as Pimp Night, Red Light District & Disco Nights.
Niklas was still active on the guitar at the time and the jazzy lounge music from the beach on Ibiza, had started to grow. After playing in several punk bands over the years he finally started Planetary Group in 1995, that was a straight up acid-jazz band doin´ it live. His love for soul, good old funk and acid-jazz had become a big part of his life. He hooked up with Fredd aka Fredrik Segerfalk, the ultimate keymaster. Fredd that had been playing the keyboard since he was 9, knew how he could funk the house on his Fender Rhodes.
In 98 he moved to Miami Beach Florida for studying Industrial Design, but obviously the forces of nightclubs and Winter Music Conference was there right next to him. He playing at local lounge clubs and arranging smaller events a WMC 2000. But because Mr Madsen was a pore student at the time, producing music was his thing. Dave Moore the owner of the crazy legendary bootleg label Piratebrain got in contact with Niklas and released to of his bedroom remixes.
*Piratebrain Vol. 5 (“12) and Check Out My New Boots!! (“12).
September 11th was a fact and there where not a job to get a hold of as a young designer. September 2002, and Niklas moves back to his home town of Helsingborg and starts DJing and hosting clubs like never before. He joined up with Fredd and they started Planetary Group again as a production team and released a track on Cute Records 2003. In 2004 he joined forces with old-time friends (brothers) Dj Ola Nylon (Ola Hultgren) & Dj Heinrich (Henrik Hultgren) and they started the club concept Social Sound (www.socialsound.com) that today also has become Social Sound Records and Creative Sound Label.
* Now it's 2008, and computers rule our world, but space is still the final frontier. Broken space beats, cosmic groove wonders and mainframes filled with love. That's where Planetary Group are, spending most of the time in orbit, glancing out the window to check out that the earth keeps spinning in sync with the beats.
