Dark Sun (and the Rising Telepaths) is a psychedelic space rock band formed in 1991. The band released several demos in the early 90's. The first official release was a 7" released by Metamorphos in 1996. The single was soon followed by a full-lenght studio album Feed Your Mind, that got a warm reception by the space rock fanatics from all over the universe. During the 90's the band played quite a lot of gigs in Finland, and also appeared at the annual Hawkfan festival in Hamburg, Germany in 1997, and at Space & Rock Festival in Sweden in 1998. A live album called Ice Ritual featuring ex-Hawkwind Nik Turner was released as a limited edition vinyl in 2000 through Burnt Hippie Recordings, the CD version with an extra track followed next year. The early 00's were rather quiet for Dark Sun, but some new tracks were released on several compilations like Not of This World and Copenhagen Space Rock Festival. The band also played some occasional gigs in Helsinki, one of them once again with Nik Turner. The band has been recording a long-overdue follow-up for the debut studio CD, but due to lack of interest from the record labels and lack of funds etc., this has not yet been released. In 2006 the band released a couple of limited edition double CD-R's to gather up some money for studio expenses. At least a couple of tribute and compilation appearances are scheduled for 2011.
